MARY JOSEPHINE BUFFIE (nee JURENS) July 1, 1909 - February 22, 2000 With deep sorrow and regret we announce the loss of our wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and confidante. Mom left us on Tuesday, February 22, 2000, and will be dearly missed and cherished. Mom was born in Winnipeg July 1, 1909 and was predeceased by her husband August; brothers, Bill, John, and Alex Jurens; and sister Ann Romano. Mother is survived by her daughters, June Kunz, Joyce (Harold) Peters; sons, Robert (Gail) and Ron (Linda) as well as numerous grandchildren. Mom grew up in Winnipegs North End and due to her outstanding baseball skills was nicknamed Babe. Mothers was not an easy life as she had a family at an early age and had to struggle through the Great Depression. Although times were tough, Mom never lost her zest for life or her remarkable sense of humour. She bravely faced up to the slings and arrows of life with a smile and never complained. Mom always put her family first and made many sacrifices for them. Until her final illness, Mom always had a feast prepared for family and friends for most every occasion. Moms creativity and zest for life were evidenced in her pottery crafting, afghan knitting, and Avon sales well into her 70s. At the age of 83, the day after a mastectomy operation, Mom was up and about, comforting the other patients on her ward. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge, doctors, nurses, and friends who endeavoured to make her comfortable during her final illness. Funeral services will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Monday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Good-bye Mom - Til we meet again, were going to miss you. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
