In 1956 Bill started his own business as a sub contractor - damp proofing basements. He got the nickname Tar Boy. In 1989 Bill retired due to his illness. In his early years he loved fishing with his friends and family, spending winter months in the United States, watching his youngest son and grandchildren play hockey, baseball, soccer and ringette and all other sports. He enjoyed attending and watching the Blue Bombers and Jets Games with his sons. Bill also enjoyed spending his summers at various camp sites throughout Manitoba and recently at his trailer at Camp Hide-Away. He loved animals, especially his dog Missy and his cat Morris.
