WILLIAM LISKA February 18, 1922 - February 23, 2000 William Liska, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Justina; his son John (Suzanne), daughters, Joyce, Janice (Gary) and grandchildren, Kim, Stephen, Lisa, Kevin and Tyler. He will also be greatly missed by his sister Mary, brother Paul; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by his brother Peter. Bill was born in Winnipeg, MB. He married his childhood sweetheart, Justina, on April 18, 1942 in Winnipeg. Bill served as an R.C.A.F. serviceman from 1940-1945. He entered the Academy of Radio Arts in 1946, and began his first job in Yorkton, SK as a Ukrainian Disc Jockey. His career allowed him and his family to experience many new places to live. Bill began his career with C.B.C. in 1959 where he worked until retirement. He was an active member of many clubs and community organizations, such as the United Way, Manisphere and the Dauphin Ukrainian Festival. Bill loved fishing and enjoyed the fellowship of the members of the 141 Fishing Club where he was a well respected and valued member. He was also active in the Sons of the Ukrainian Pioneers. Bill loved to travel and especially enjoyed southern destinations and cruising. His number one joy was his family, who always came first to him. Bill will be remembered for his zest of life, kindness to everyone he encountered, sense of fun and adventure and his ability to see the best in any situation. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Ave. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
