Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN MEDAL Peacefully, on February 25, 2000 at the Selkirk General Hospital, John Medal, age 80 years, of East Selkirk, MB. John was predeceased by his wife Ann in 1984; sisters, Sophie Hill and Ann Jamieson and one brother, Mike Medal. Left to cherish his memory is his son William of East Selkirk, MB; sister Ollie (Wes) Langley of Winnipeg, MB; and nephew Art Jamieson of Powell River, BC, and very special family friend Gina Blaire. John was born in East Selkirk, MB on March 12, 1919 and resided there for most of his life. As a young man, he began working for Vanhorn Farms and later for Manitoba Rolling Mills, where he was employed for 38 years. John enjoyed working around the yard and tending to his garden. He will be remembered for making those around him laugh, and bringing a smile to everyones face. Prayers will be said on Monday, February 28 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, East Selkirk, with Fr. Jerry Talarski presiding. Interment in the East Selkirk Cemetery. Johns pallbearers will be George Carroll, Chris Keith, Ken Smith, Steve Turkitch, Henry Elais, Bill Campbell and honorary pallbearer Bill Nickel. A special thank you to Dr. Ryckman and the wonderful nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital who cared for Dad. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
