ELSIE FREUND (nee SCHAU) Peacefully, on Monday, February 28, 2000, at East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, Elsie Bertha Maria, age 93, went to her eternal rest. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1975; her son Wilfred in 1998; her parents, seven brothers and five sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Marceta (Ed) Kurytnik of Anola, MB, Gwen (Malcom) Smith of Calgary, AB and Marion of Vernon, BC; daughter-in-law Dorothy Freund of Winnipeg; five grandchildren, Wendy (Harry) Summerfield, Susan (Peter) Lodge, Nancy (Jason) Molnar, Tim and Blair Smith; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lilly and Fie Schau, Lilly Schmidtke, Judy (Archie) Trapp, Helen Freund; brother-in-law Phil Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was born June 10, 1906 in Newdale, MB. She married Roy Freund on July 1, 1931. They farmed in the Friedensfeld and Dencross areas until they moved to Winnipeg in 1957. She resided there until December, 1998, when she moved to East Gate Lodge. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road, with Pastor Cone officiating from Zion Lutheran Church in Beausejour. The family wishes to thank Dr. Zeiler and the staff at East Gate Lodge for their care and compassion during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
