JOHN MARTIN On Tuesday, February 29, 2000, after a long and fulfilling life, at the age of 82, John passed away peacefully at home in his sleep. John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary; his devoted daughters, Janet (Roger), Rosemary (Len), Lynn (Dean) his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Darin (Joanne), Jason, Matthew (Denise), David (Anthoula), and Jaclyn. John was also blessed with three precious great-grandchildren, Brianna, Cassidy and Anthony. John is also survived by his sister Fay; sisters-in-law, Betty and Lena; brothers-in-law, John, Steve and Joe; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Theresa Kozogovits; his brothers, Joe, Ernie and Jimmy, and his sisters, Gracia and Mary. John was born in Winnipeg on December 6, 1917 and grew up in Elmwood where he was actively involved with rugby, hockey, baseball and speed skating. John served overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941-1945. Upon his return he went to work at Western Flyer until 1954, when he pursued a career at Robinson Little where he remained until his retirement in 1979. In their retirement, Dad and Mom spent many happy times at the lake with family and enjoyed their many travels together. He spent many hours on the golf course and in his workshop. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the neighbours and friends who helped during Dads illness. Special thanks to Dr. T. Gwozdecki, Dr. K.S. Jolly and Sev. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre, 351 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 3C1.
