Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARRY JOSEPH WOOD October 12, 1940 - February 29, 2000 On February 29, 2000 at about 10:00 p.m., Harry Wood passed away in his sleep at his daughters residence in Winnipeg. He was a man who never gave up fighting for the rights of his people. He is remembered as a negotiator, councillor, political advisor, debator, interpretor and a friend to both aboriginal and non aboriginal people. His life was full of adventures due to his knowledge of both worlds. Harry became a Councillor in February, 1982 until August, 1984. He held several positions in St. Theresa Point and played a major role in the J.J. Harper court case which led to the inquiry. He leaves behind his loving wife Margaret, who stood by him during his life and when he lost his eyesight due to diabetes. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Walter, Roderick, Harry Junior and his daughters, Bernice, Jackie, Louella, Nellie and Darla. His daughters-in-law, Helen, Ella Jane and Rebecca. His sons-in-law, Harold Harper, Louis Knott, Michael John Harper and Curt Monias. Harrys grandchildren, Trina, Clara Philomena, Vincent, Jay Duncan, Ryan Knott, Dave, Joshua, Donovan, Seegwun, Walter, Michelle, Dionne, Keeshon, Kimberly, Nicole, Eileen, Irvin, Michael Keh Che, Jordie Wayne, Sydney and his great-grandchild Steve. Wake services will be held on Thursday, March 2 and Friday, March 3 at St. Theresa Point. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Theresa Point Roman Catholic Church, St. Theresa Point, Man. with Fr. Robert Laroche officiating. Interment to follow at the St. Theresa Point Cemetery. A special thank you is extended to the people who have helped and gave support to the Wood family.
