MARY KARPIW Peacefully on March 1, 2000, Mary Karpiw, age 96 years, passed away at Vita Hospital. Service will be held today, Friday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Ave. with Fr. Miron Pozniak officiating. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Walter Kowaliuk, Robert, Jamie and Daniel Sheldon, Richard Ervick and Bill Bozyk, Jr. Mary was born in 1903 in Tolstoi, MB. She was a farmers wife until she moved to Winnipeg in 1964 and lived there for many years. The last number of years she lived at Shady Oaks Seniors Home in Vita and the last ten years at the Vital Personal Care Home. While in Winnipeg she attended and donated generously to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral and the Holy Family Nursing Home. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Anne Tomasik (Albert) of Mesa, AZ, and Nancy Kowaliuk (Walter) of Gardenton, MB; also daughter-in-law Anne Woytkiw of Detroit, MI; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband Dmytro Woytkiw in 1950, her second husband John Shypit in 1963, and her third husband Wasyl Karpiw in 1973; also her daughter Ollie Wawrzonek (Olson) in 1990 and son John Woytkiw in 1998; her five brothers, Michael, William, Alex, Dmytro and Evan Mykytiuk and sister Nettie Goletski; her granddaughter Marlane Olson in 1992; and her parents, Nick Mykytiuk in 1924 and mother Anna Mykytiuk in 1935. Relatives and friends will miss and remember her always. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the care givers and doctors of the Vital Personal Care Home and Hospital.
