TILLIE POLUBOK nee KOWALCHUK Peacefully, on February 29, 2000 at Concordia Hospital, Tillie left to be with our Lord and her husband Alex. Tillie led a very full life which included a great number of people. She especially enjoyed her family, relatives, neighbours and friends of every age. Church activities were always on her mind and she was involved in many lives. Tillie grew up on the farm, but quickly became a city girl when she arrived in Winnipeg. She enjoyed a long and varied career from being a nanny, to working in the clothing industry, and finally retiring as an Eatons employee. In between she fell in love with Alex and had two daughters. She was patient, caring, giving freely of her time, energy and other resources. She shared her knowledge, her wit and humour and did not hold back opinions deemed important. She had a truly independent spirit and will be greatly missed by all. Tillie leaves to mourn two daughters, Olive Krakalovich and Sharon Hildebrand (Dwight) three grandchildren, Tom Krakalovich (Lisa), Angie Harasyn (Ken), and Christopher Terleski; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Kennedy; two step-grandchildren, Jackie and Earl; and from Dauphin, MB, two brothers, Steve and Tony Kowalchuk and dearest sister Matilda Huska (Henry), along with a great many relatives and countless numbers of friends from Church, the old Atlantic Avenue neighbours and many new neighbours and friends. The warmth of her smile and strength of her character will always be remembered by all who knew her. Tillie recalled many fond memories of those who went to join our Lord before her. She looked forward to being reunited with her loving husband Alex; her mother Magda; father Michael Kowalchuk and eldest brother Dmitro. Prayers will be said on Friday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m. also at the Cathedral with The Very Rev. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
