Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED GEORGE MYERS 1926 - 2000 After a lengthy struggle with Alzheimers Disease, on Thursday, March 2, 2000 at the Charleswood Care Centre, our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and mentor passed away at the age of 73 years. Alf was born on June 6, 1926. He voluntarily joined the Canadian Armed Forces serving as a guard in a P.O.W. camp at Neys, ON. Throughout the years he worked at various jobs. Eventually he retired with the St. James-Assiniboia School Division after 18 years as a custodian and school bus driver. Realizing the importance of family life at an early age, Alf married Norma in 1956 and started a family. Being a devoted father and husband he always worked hard to raise and support them. He loved to spend time relaxing at the cottage and would work countless hours on maintaining it so they could enjoy themselves. He was a kind, compassionate and caring man and would lend a hand to anyone in need. Even when life was most challenging, Alf was never one to complain. With his family at his side he amazed us with his strong will to live - showing us how much we meant to him. It is with great pride and respect we call him our Dad. Remaining to forever cherish Alfs memory is his wife Norma; children, Pam (Bob) Cindy (Kerry) Ross, Judy (Gerry) Bruce (Janice) and Stuart (Susan) many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his sister June; relatives and friends. A private family service will be held. Our family thanks the wonderful staff at Charleswood Care Centre for their support. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Alfs memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Peacefully sleeping resting at last, His weary trials and troubles are past, In silence he suffered, in patience he bore Till God called him home to suffer no more. Alfs family has entrusted his arrangements to the care of: WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
