MARGARET (MARGIE) EDITH McDOUGALL (nee McCOLLUM) Peacefully on March 1, 2000, at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, with her family at her side, Margie passed away. Margie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Peter McDougall; four children, Gordon (Lolita) of Nanaimo, B.C., Kathy (Manfred Peters) of Winnipeg, Paul (Kim) of Vienna, Austria, John (Sarah) of Ear Falls, Ont.; eight grandchildren, Heather, Christine, Alexandra, Alison, Thomas, Madison, James and Daniel. Margie was predeceased by her father Charles Scadding McCollum in 1945 and her mother Helen Emily McCollum in 1983. Born in Toronto, Margie grew up in Toronto and attended St. Clements Girl School and the University of Western Ontario, London, Ont. She moved to Winnipeg in 1957 upon her marriage to Peter where they lived except for six years in Dauphin, Man. (1960 to 1966). Margies family will always remember her as a caring, unselfish and devoted wife and mother - transporting kids to early morning hockey games, music lessons, etc., doing lifeguard duty on the dock or cooking on a woodburning stove at the lake. Being a full time mom was her life. She led by example, particularly in her passion for fishing and boating on Lake of the Woods. She was always a very supportive partner to her husband in his career and in his industry and community involvement which included Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, Duck Unlimited and Rotary. Margie enjoyed her work at the Grace Hospital, and as a longtime resident of Westwood, she served on the Vestry of St. Chads Anglican Church and more recently attended Westwood Presbyterian Church. Family has requested no flowers. Friends may make a donation to the Westwood Presbyterian Memorial Fund, 197 Browning Blvd., Winnipeg, Man., R3K 0L1, or a charity of their choice in Margies name. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Margies life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6 at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd., conducted by Reverends Ian Shaw and Tom Vais of Caledonia with a reception to follow at the church.
