MORRIS LABOVITCH It is with aching hearts that we announce the passing of Morris Labovitch on February 25, 2000 in his 85th year. Morris will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Nellie (Bebchuk) his children, Shelley (Meyer) Nimchonok, Connie (Darrel) Donen, Joy (Bob) Walker, Sharon Elston; grandchildren, Kevin Nimchonok, Shauna (Aaron) Lindzon, Maury Donen, Jason Donen, Erin Walker, Adam Walker, Sean Walker, Chad Elston, Cori Elston; sisters, Rose Weiner, Lil Seigel and Sylvia Fritz; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Rachel and Hymie Labovitch; brothers, Sam Labovitch, Dr. Bill Lyons, Jack Lyons; sister Brina Bressler and parents-in-law, Ettie and Joseph Bebchuk. His wife Nellie was the love of his life. For the past 56 years they shared love, admiration and devotion for one and other. They always walked together hand in hand facing lifes challenges. Morris was happiest when he was surrounded by his grandchildren and sharing stories of his past. He entertained them with his multitude of talents: tap dancing, playing the harmonica and piano, multilingualism and sense of humour. The lessons of his life will be applied to enrich the lives of future generations. Until his retirement in 1974 he supported his family by working as a Supervisor in the Department of Family Allowance and Old Age Securities, Federal Government. In addition, he worked at accounting and teaching English as a second language. Funeral Services were held on Sunday, February 27 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Pallbearers were: Kevin Nimchonok, Dr. Aaron Lindzon, Maury Donen, Jason Donen, Adam Walker and Chad Elston. Honorary Pallbearers were Mitchell Schachter, Sam Bebchuk, Dr. William Bebchuk, Dr. Meyer Nimchonok, Darrel Donen, Bob Walker, Shauna Lindzon and Erin Walker. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his doctors, nurses and unit staff at the Health Sciences Centre for their unlimited attention and care. Morriss sweet nature, kind disposition and concern for others touched all around him. His family and friends will take solace in the knowledge that Morris had a good life full of pride in his accomplishments.
