Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET FORREST MURRAY Violet Forrest Murray died peacefully at the Central Park Lodge, 70 Poseidon Bay, Winnipeg, on February 25, 2000 at the age of 99 years. Miss Murray was born in Brechin, Scotland on January 3, 1901. She began working at Stovels in Winnipeg at the age of 17 years and after serving Stovels, and successor companies, for 65 years retired at the age of 82. Miss Murray was secretary to five Presidents at Sandford Evans. On her retirement, she was presented with a plaque with her picture in bronze and the company sent her around the world in appreciation for her devoted service. During her retirement, she attended fitness classes four times a week at Lions Manor and in 1990 was looking after its library and greenhouse. Even after her retirement, she often expressed her wish that she was still working. Her determination to keep fit began when she walked to work daily from Grant Avenue to Sargent Avenue. Although it was necessary to get about with the aid of a walker, her daily walks continued even at Central Park Lodge. Miss Murray is survived by nieces and nephews in Welland, Ontario. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 6, in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations in memory of Miss Murray be made to Lions Manor or the charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
