JOYCE ISABELLE SODER Joyce Isabelle Soder, beloved wife of Ronald Soder passed away peacefully in her sleep at Elkview Lodge on Saturday March 4, 2000. Joyce was born at Elkhorn, Manitoba on May 30, 1921 to Leone and Wilfred Dixon. Joyce is survived by her children, Martin (Ruth) of Acton, Ont.; Carol (Dan) Ogaranko of Sherwood Park, Alta. and Larry (Mary) of Lakefield, Ont. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Tom (Heather), Greg (Sonja) and Joanne Ogaranko all of Edmonton, Vicki Soder of Acton and Amanda and Mark Soder of Lakefield. Also missed by sisters, Maxine Fraser, Irene (Bill) Acton, Mary Jones, Kaye (Don) Merritt, Joan Challis and Claire Weir and brothers, Donald (Betty) and Frank (Maxine) Dixon. Joyce was predeceased by grandson Bart Soder and brother Jerry Dixon. In the early years of their life, Ron and Joyce farmed in the Two Creeks District from 1939 to 1956. From there they moved to Selkirk where they lived until 1982 when they retired and moved to Elkhorn. During her time in Selkirk, Joyce had been very active in P.E.O. and the U.C.W. and had served on the Board of the United Church. She also played the organ for funerals at the Gilbart Funeral Home. Since returning to Elkhorn, she had been a member of the Trinity United Church Choir and assisted as organist at Trinity United Church and St. Marks Anglican Church. Friends are invited to call at Carscadden Funeral Chapel, Virden on Wednesday, March 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Trinity United Church, Elkhorn on Thursday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Margaret McCallum officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Elkwood Manor Memorial Fund in Joyces memory.
