Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK ROBERT (BOB) WIGHT June 4, 1932 - March 5, 2000 After a brief battle with cancer, Dad passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, his family at his side, and returned home to God. He was predeceased by his mother Emma Anderson in 1997 and father John Wight in 1991. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue, the love of his life; their six children whom he was so very proud of, Jack (Gale), Glen (Gisele), Russell (Frieda), Susan Becker (Brad), Bruce (Marci) and Linda (partner Don) 14 grandchildren, Mitchell, Travis, Amanda, Melissa, Naomi, Nicholas, Aaron, Brandon, Lauren, Ashley, Raymond, Callin, Tabitha and Madelaine; his half-sister Alison Gorrell and family of Pinoke, Alta.; cousins, Wayne and Johnny and cousin Carol, who he thought of as a sister; Aunt Elsie Wilson of Thunder Bay, Ont.; Aunt Beth Wight of Vancouver, B.C.; and Dads right hand man on the farm, Bill Henry. A sincere thank you to all the nurses and doctors who looked after Dad so well this past month at the Portage General Hospital, especially Dr. Ross and the ICU nurses, and the ICU staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. The family would also like to thank our pastor, Ron Vert, who was a good friend of Dads, for all the care and support he has provided to us all. Dad spent his younger years between Brunkild and Fannystelle, attending school in Brunkild, then working in the bush in Saskatchewan for a year. Upon returning to Fannystelle, he did various jobs. He worked for Hydro installing lines, worked for his Uncle Melvin at the garage in town and also worked on his uncles farm. Over the years, he had done custom work for Highways, Hydro, RM of Grey, RM of Portage and Water Resources, but found his favourite job to be farming which he was doing up until his death. During these years, Dad made many friends all over the province. Everyone knew who you were if you were "Bobby Wights" son or daughter. Dad had a great love for sports, coaching baseball and hockey for several years in Elm Creek, forming valuable friendships with all his players. He was also on the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins executive when his youngest son played hockey in Winnipeg. The last few years hed been travelling miles watching his grandsons play hockey and if he couldnt get to the games, hed phone for all the details. Another passion Dad had was for music. The famous Stangl family get-togethers always included hours of singing with Dad playing the piano, bass guitar or his banjo which he was noted for. He was also part of a band called "The Nomads" who entertained people province wide. Dad could often be found sitting on the living room floor late in the evening listening to stacks of tapes and CDs for hours on end. Dads greatest love though was for his family. He would do anything for his kids and loved his wife to distraction. He looked after us all so well and now God will be looking after him. The silence of your absence is deafening to our ears Dad! We will love you forever and will miss you always till we see you again in Heaven. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m., at the Starbuck Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Man. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service with family will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elevator Fund of the Starbuck Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, R0G 2P0. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
