Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIRGINIA PAULINE HOLGATE (nee SOKOLOWSKI) After a long and courageous battle, with her family by her bedside, Virginia Holgate passed away on March 5, 2000. Virginia leaves to cherish her memory her husband Frank; six children, Shirley (Paul) Henrie, Terri (Chris) Pettinger, Larry (Diane), Jim (Louise), Lori, Jason (Rhea-Lynn) ten grandchildren; sisters, Joyce, Florence; brothers, Leonard (General), Raymond (Margie) and numerous friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Francis Sokolowski in 1992. Virginia was born on May 7, 1936, in Narol. She grew up in East St. Paul, where she resided for the rest of her life with her husband whom she married on November 7, 1953. Virginias priority in life was her family and not until the children were older did she venture into the workforce. She was employed in the pharmaceutical field working at the K-Mart pharmacy and later at PharmaPlus where she was employed until her illness. She was a 20-year member and past president of the East Kildonan Lioness. Virginia grew up in the market gardening environment. This evolved into a love of flower gardening and crafting. She will be at peace among the garden she so loved, rejoicing in the miracle of Gods work. In accordance with Virginias wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., phone 338-0331, with Reverend Canon J. Ronald McCullough officiating. If friends desire, donations may be made to Cancer Treatment and Research, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 9Z9.
