Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) GEORGE McCARTHY It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at the age of 71 years, on Saturday, March 4, 2000, with family by his side. Bill will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Elva; sons, Wayne and Craig; daughter Donna and son-in-law Gary Greenaway; grandchildren, Lee, Brad, Stacie, Shawn, Adam, and Trevor, and very special friends Sandi, Sadie and Loreen. Bill is also survived by his brother Charlie (Rhea) sisters Gwen, (Earl), Eileen (Jim), Rory, and Peggy (Al), and numerous other family members. Bill was born in Sprague, Man. on November 14, 1928 and as a teenager moved to Winnipeg. He worked for the CPR, and then Carter-Day as a machinist, retiring after 45 years. He belonged to the Lord Selkirk Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was also an active member of the Khartum Temple Fife and Drum Band for 23 years. He enjoyed curling, bowling, camping and most of all time with family. Special thanks to Dr. C. Yeung and the staff at the Victoria Hospital. At Bills request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., with Rev. Russell Wardell officiating. Interment, Lasting Memories at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bills memory may be made to the Churchill Park United Church or a charity of your choice.
