Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWIN HUGH (TED) COOPER Edwin Hugh (Ted) Cooper age 80, died peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Victoria General Hospital. He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years Doris; sons, Brian (Carol) and Barry (Linda) daughters, Barbara and Beverley (Mark) grandson, Dean (Carolyn), Paul, John Welwood and Jason (Lisa) Carriere; granddaughter Sabrina Carriere and great-grandson Des Carriere. He also leaves to cherish his memory, brother David (June) Seattle, Washington and sister Ruth Stebbens, Perth, Australia and many nieces and nephews. Ted was elected student president of St. Johns High School in 1937, and served from 1940 to 1945 in the R.C.A.S.C. during the Second World War. He retired from Burns Meats as purchasing manager in 1982 after 45 years of service. He shared his summer cottage at Gimli with Doris and family since 1960 and could often be found golfing at Sandy Hook and Gimli. An avid curler since 1946, he served as president of Pembina Curling Club 1966 to 1967 and was awarded a life membership in 1997. Ted served on the Manitoba Curling Association Executive Council 1967 to 1973, was a member of Burns C. C. and Gimli Legion and an associate member of H.M.S. Chippewa. Ted was a quiet, modest and gentle man who dearly loved, and was loved by, his family. At Teds request cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at a "Come and Go" Reception at P. Coutu Funeral Home, 156 Marion St. 949-4864 between 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9. The family wishes to thank the Intensive Care Unit Staff, Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care.
