MARIE B. JOYCE On March 5, 2000 at Markham-Stouffeville Hospital Palliative Care Unit, after a short illness of Acute Leukemia. Maria, loving wife and best friend of Charles M. Joyce, is survived by two sons; Gordon Hutchison (Donna) and Craig Hutchison (Marianne) Uxbridge and step-son Dr. Mark Joyce (Glynis) of Calgary. She is also survived by her step-mother Jean Steele, Winnipeg; brother Arthur Steele (Gay), Larchmount, N.Y.; and two sisters, Judy (Rick) McCay, Bend, Oregon and Gail (Bill) Palishnuik, Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Emily, Sara, Cory and Kelly Joyce, Calgary, and Gregory Hutchison, Uxbridge, as well as many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg in 1923, Marie was the daughter of the late Laura and Harold Steele. She was a dedicated volunteer for 10 years at the Toronto General Hospital (1966-1976) and for close to 25 years with the Volunteer Services of North York General Hospital. She was a past-president and past-treasurer and currently was chairman of the Constitution Committee at the Volunteer Services organization of North York General. In keeping with her wishes, cremation and committal has taken place. A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Brook Street, Thornhill, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Rev. Canon Linda Nicholls will officiate. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Frank Slaughter of North York General and Dr. M. Mildland, Dr. Anna and Dr. Crump of Princes Margaret Hospital, as well as the dedicated, professional nurses and support team of 14A, Princess Margaret. Also the doctors and support team at Markham-Stouffeville for your dedication and help. To the many friends and relatives who sent Marie cards and wishes we are thankful. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, a donation in Maries name to the Volunteer Services Care of North York General Hospital, 4000 Leslie Street, North York, Ontario, M2K 1E1 would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (416-221-1159).
