SISTER CECILE VANDEL (SISTER ANGELE SAINT PIERRE) After a long wait to enter eternal life, Sister Cecile ended her pilgrimage at the St. Boniface General Hospital on Monday, March 6, 2000. Daughter of Fernand Vandel and Therese Arbez, she was born and raised in St. Claude where she also did her schooling. She joined the Congregation of the Filles de la Croix (Sisters of the Cross) in 1943 and made her final profession in 1950. Sister Cecile spent most of her religious life teaching, extending her services as sacristan and in many other community services in Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Her artistic endeavours always matched the seasons and we can say that through crafts or decorations, her magic fingers could reveal her giftedness. Her family as well as her religious community and many special friends and students witnessed to her deep spirituality and love of prayer. She was anxious to die to be able to pierce the mystery of eternal life. Are left to cherish her memories her religious Sisters; her sister Angele (Emile) Legare; sisters-in-law, Gisele, Agnes, Antoinette; her brother-in-law Paul and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding her in heaven are her parents Fernand and Therese as well as her brothers, Ernest, Albert, Henri, Marcel, Robert and Rene; her sister Germaine and her sister-in-law Beatrice. Our sincere gratitude wo all who visited her and expressed so much friendship till the very end.
