MAURICE H. PACIORKA 1932 - 2000 Suddenly, on March 7, 2000 at the Victoria Hospital, Maurice Paciorka passed away at the age of 67 years. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, mother Pauline, sister Mary (Alex) Shewchuk, niece Debbie (Art) Doerkson, nephew David (Connie) Shewchuk, nieces Joanne (Harold) Podolchuk, Barbara Slymkevich and fiance Kevin Smerechynski; sisters-in-law, Gwen (Russell) Wilson, Beatrice (Norman) Schick; brothers-in-law Ronald, Leslie (Judy) Merriman and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Maurice was predeceased by his father, John J. Paciorka (1990), sister Elsie Slymkevich (1995) and brother-in-law Gerald Slymkevich (1996), mother-in-law Laura Merriman (1968), brother-in-law Ardis Merriman (1985) and father-in-law Arthur Merriman (1989). Maurice was born in Winnipeg, MB on June 20, 1932 to John and Pauline Paciorka. He grew up on the farm and was educated in Vita, MB. At age 16, he began his career with the Canadian National Railway and retired from the C.N.R. in 1989. In 1960 he met the love of his life Phyllis Merriman. In 1966 they were married and made their home in Transcona. Maurice loved going out to the cottage at Beaconia, MB. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with cherished family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel 1800 Day St. with Alton Mose, Audrey Robbins and David Jury officiating. Burial at Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, or to a charity of choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
