Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JAMES MCFARLANE After a long and courageous battle with cancer, we are saddened to announce, at the age of 37, the passing of a son, brother, loving husband and devoted father on Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Grace General Hospital. He was born May 26, 1962 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to James and Evelyn McFarlane where Bill lived with his family until moving to Winnipeg at the age of 14. After graduating from St. James Collegiate, where he met many of his life-long friends, he worked as a bartender at the Assiniboine Gordon Hotel Inn on the Park where he continued to increase his circle of close friends. In 1988, he married his wife Melanie McKay, daughter of Sandra and step-father Richard Hoffman. The union was blessed with a daughter Megan, who is now seven years of age, and another baby expected later this spring. He leaves behind his sister Pamela McLean and her daughters Alexandra and Madison; his brother Jason McFarlane and his daughter Jessica; and brother-in-law Mark Stropko, his wife Tamara, and their son Zachary, all of Winnipeg. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins both in Winnipeg and in Nova Scotia. Our sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion during Bills illness. Special thanks to Major Violet Chaulk for her support of both Bill and his familys spiritual needs. Memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 10 with Major Violet Chaulk presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200
