Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHERESA SELLORS (GERVAIS) Following a brief struggle with cancer, Theresa Sellors, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on March 6, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital. Theresa was born on June 28, 1917 and received her education in Winnipeg. Her first career was as secretary and catalogue model for Brigdens Publishing Company. In 1941 she and Roy were married in Texas. They made Fortworth, Texas their home for four years. Prior to returning to Winnipeg in 1947, they lived in Minneapolis for two years. Profoundly dedicated to her faith, Theresa attended St. Vital Roman Catholic Church and was active in the work of the Catholic Womens League. She was involved in many charitable projects including provision of Christmas hampers each year. She was an active participant in the mothers associations of St. Maurice School, St. Ignatius School, St. Pauls High School and the Convent of the Sacred Heart. Theresa was a people person, which was borne out through her caring and kindness to others. She baked everyday, putting together small gift packages of her famous cakes and cookies for family and friends. Theresa was very involved with the University of Manitoba Faculty Wives and along with her husband was a staunch supporter of the arts in Winnipeg, attending Winnipeg Symphony, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Manitoba Theatre Centre. She was an avid bridge player, belonging to a number of bridge groups and looked forward to a challenging Scrabble match and the Saturday crossword puzzle. Over the years, Theresa and Roy travelled the world. For 25 years, she enjoyed the summer months at the family cottage at Clearwater Bay, ON. Theresa is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy; children, Paul (Libbie) of Minnesota, John (Elizabeth), Michael, Edmund (Cheryl) of Ontario and Elizabeth (Richard Hutchings) ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister and three brothers. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to all the care givers of the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their genuine kindness and caring. In celebration of Theresas life, a private family funeral mass was held on March 7 at St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at St. Vital Cemetery. Mom will always be with us in our thoughts and memories. She will be missed by all who knew her, and the best recipe for dinner rolls remained her secret to the end. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be greatly appreciated to St. Pauls High School Sellors Family Bursary or St. Boniface General Hospital, Sellors Palliative Care Fund. KERRS FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements; phone 943-6688.
