ESTHER ELSA WINCKLER (nee RANKIN) Born in Hamiota in 1922; passed away Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Chilliwack General Hospital, B.C. A graduate of the University of Manitoba (Home Economics 1943), Esthers world was full with books and music and the home and garden she lovingly created at Cultus Lake, B.C. She taught her family and friends the meaning of commitment and accomplishment and the dignity of endurance in the face of great challenge. She put all of our needs first; hers a distant second. For that we are all blessed. There will be a great space in the lives of husband of 50 years, Lawrence; and children, Catherine and Ron of Vancouver; along with sisters, Jean Mitchell and Phyllis Rankin; brother John Rankin and wife Gertrude, her beloved nieces and nephews and long-time friend Helen Maitland - all from Manitoba. Respecting her wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of her indefatigable spirit is planned for April 15, at her Lindell Beach home. Esther believed philanthropy is essential to the well-lived life. Please celebrate her life by supporting your charity of choice with a donation of money or your time.
