She lovingly cared for her older sister Jean until her death in 1947. Julia was an independent woman who worked for the Government of Canada beginning in 1944 and retiring from Manpower and Immigration on December 12, 1973. On August 30, 1968 Julia married the love of her life Gordon. Together they shared 32 years of happiness, laughter and love. For years they enjoyed their summer home at Lac Lu in Ontario as well as many happy times visiting friends and relatives in Roblin, Man. WALK SLOWLY If you should go before me, dear, walk slowly Down the ways of death, well-worn and wide, For I would want to overtake you quickly And seek the journeys ending by your side. I would be so forlorn not to descry you Down some shining high road when I came; Walk slowly, dear, and often look behind you And pause to hear if someone calls your name. Love Gordon Julias family wishes to acknowledge and thank the women and men of Home Care Services and her VON Marilyn Penner for their many hours of dedicated care and affection. In keeping with Julias wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family memorial will be held today, Saturday, March 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 3M7.
