PETER KIST May 5, 1926 - March 9, 2000 After a brief but courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dad was born and raised in Winnipegs North End. He joined the Air Force as a navigator during the Second World War. When the war ended he worked at various jobs including United Taxi, Regent Taxi, Duffys Taxi, Winnipeg Post Office and the Winnipeg School Division No. 1, from which he retired as a 4th Class Power Engineer in 1992. Dad along with his wife Connie were Volunteer/Leaders for the Cub Scouts at Robertson Community Club, later with the North Y.M.C.A. as a fitness instructor taking part in many activities such as jogging, swimming, diving and volleyball. Dad was a member of the No. 141 Legion for over 20 years. Dad was a man who was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Dad was a wonderful carpenter who built his own cottage north of Lac du Bonnet with the help of his family and close friends. He enjoyed sitting on the porch at the lake and watching the beautiful sunsets, listening to the loons and peacefulness of the country side. Dad and Mom were planning on moving permanently to the cottage, when Mom retired. He was looking forward to attending his sons wedding in August. Dad leaves to mourn in his passing, his beloved wife Connie; son Bruce (Anne), daughters, Kimberley (Brian) and Karen (Clint), (No. 2 son) Roman; grandchildren, Crystal, Kristyn, Nikki, Brett, Christopher, Brad, Dylan and Tracy; also brothers, Alan (Jeanette), William (Eilleen), sisters, Nell, Jo and Sonya. Peter was predeceased by his father Anthony, mother Mary; brother Stan. Rest in peace Dad, the pain and battle is over. Your family will always remember you and cherish your memory, sense of humour, kindness and smile. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
