SANDRA MARGARET FAIRCHUK (nee SWAIN) Peacefully at the age of 42 years on Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Sandra was called to be with God. She fought a courageous battle with cancer, undergoing two major operations and chemotherapy. Sandra was born at Berens River, Man. on December 15, 1957 and resided in the Riverbend area of Winnipeg. She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her husband of 25 years, Len and three children, Corey (Jessica), Mark (Amber) and her special princess - daughter Jayme Morningstar age five; four grandchildren, Virginia, Jordan, Morgan and Damon; three sisters, Lynda, Beverly and Cheryl (Beverly was a very special friend and she was always there for her) four brothers, Nelson, Hector, Randall and Noel; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Esther and her late husband John George Loonfoot were foster parents for Sandra for a short time but were an important part in her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Clara and Joe Swain and grandparents, Mary Goo Goo and John Bear. Goo Goo was a very special person and friend in Sandras life who helped raise her and took care of her. Sandra was the TV camera operator of the Western Hour TV Talent Show produced by Sandra and her husband Len. The show aired on a year round basis for 19 years, up until Sandras illness began four years ago. The Western Hour had a huge following in Manitoba and became a grassroots legend featuring mostly Aboriginal talent. The show was produced at cost and without any government funding. It was video taped on location from reserves, other communities, and Winnipeg. Sandra and Len traveled to most of the remote regions of Manitoba as well as major towns and cities including Nashville and other parts of the U.S.A. She had a winning personality and was able to put the contestants at ease before the camera. Sandra volunteered much of her service to advance the positive aspects of the First Nations people. She was a happy and outgoing person who brought laughter to everyone in her presence. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Sandra will be sadly missed by all. A special thank you to all the family for their loving care and support and to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at St. Boniface Hospital. As per Sandras wishes, a special private ceremony with family and friends was held in Wojciks Funeral Chapel. Today the camera has stopped. The Western Hour signs off with the familiar - GOD BLESS AND MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BE WITH YOU Sandras family has entrusted her arrangements to the care of: WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897-4665
