BERNARD MATCHIZEN Peacefully, Mr. Bernard Matchizen, aged 72 years, of Thalberg, Man., dearly beloved husband of Clara, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2000 at the Beausejour Hospital. Ben was born on March 8, 1928 in Thalberg. He lived with his wife Clara, raised his family and worked in the community he loved. He farmed, owned and operated a garage business until his health failed in the fall. Ben was a quiet, generous man, known for his kind nature. He will be sadly missed by all those that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Clara; son Ken (Betty) daughter Karen Kaminski (Orest) grandchildren, Kevin and Blair Matchizen and Matthew Kaminski; his sisters, Mary Olinyk, Jean Zakaluk, Elsie Wilgosh and Zonie Smolarski. He was predeceased by his parents John and Katherine. Prayers will be held on Monday March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy will be held on on Tuesday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Thalberg with Rev. Fr. John Sholdak officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7.
