MICHAEL GRODZIK Peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the Concordia Hospital, our husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 88. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Nellie; his daughter Vicky Low; son Bob (Nancy) and grandchildren, Ian (Lisa), Sandi (Rob), Gillian and Kelly. He will also be missed by his sister Mary Cebrowski. Michael was born on November 16, 1911 in the Point Douglas area of Winnipeg. After a brief residence in Transcona, Michael and his family acquired a small farm in Springfield. Since the mid 1950s, Michael took seasonal employment off the farm to support the family. During the last 15 years prior to his retirement, he was a proud employee of North American Lumber. In 1968, Mike and Nellie moved to Transcona where they resided until his passing. Mike will be remembered by his family and friends, both young and old as a pioneer who lived first-hand, Transconas history. He was quick to share a tale and lend a helping hand in his community. His most enjoyable times were spent with his family and friends, working in his yard, doing woodworking projects and getting exercise by cycling the streets of Transcona. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m., at Green Acres Funeral Chapel on Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m., at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day St., with Rev. Fr. Andrew Jarmus officiating. Interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of N3 West for their special care and support during Mikes stay at the hospital. In lieu of flowers, Michael has requested that contributions be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3G 4G2. May God keep you in His arms for all eternity. We love you and will think of you always. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Green Acres Funeral Chapel, 222-3241.
