JAMES (JIM) ALAN SMITH On Sunday, March 12, 2000 at the Charleswood Care Centre, our dear husband and father, James (Jim) A. Smith passed away at the age of 74 years. Jim was born on January 27, 1926 in Winnipeg, the son of Ed and Emily Smith. He was raised in River Heights - Fort Rouge area, graduating from Kelvin High School. He had always worked in the sales field ending his career with Phillips Paint Products, where he was employed for 27 years as their sales representative in Saskatchewan. Throughout Jims life, he was a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church - U.C.T.; was the past President of North Commercial Travelers; formerly a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 146; years ago, Jim was involved with the Parent Committee of Silver Heights United Church Club pack and for many years, he was also a member of PIMA. Besides his loving wife, Gladys of 38 years of marriage, remaining to forever cherish Jims memory are his son Daniel and his wife Astrid of Calgary, AB, daughter Michelle and her husband Michael of Winnipeg, MB; brother Vern and his wife Betty; sister-in-law Vaughn Pridmore and her husband Curt of Vancouver, BC; niece Nancy (Joel) and family of Ottawa, ON, nephew Rick (Simon) and family of Whitehorse and by dear friends, Hubert and Delaine Lux of Humboldt, SK, Jack and Rubie Ready of Brandon, MB and Nell Roh of St. Albert, AB. Jims funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. with The Rev. I. Mills officiating. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Charleswood Care Centre for the kindness in which they have shown; to Dr. Peter Petrenko - we can never thank you enough for your care, compassion and understanding in which you have shown to Jim and our family; to the girls at Park West Clinic, especially Cory and Kathie; the V.O.N.s for the long months of wonderful care and to Leslie and Rowena, you were the best to Jim and our family. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Jims memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, (Winnipeg & District Branch, Canada), 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to the Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-252 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
