KENNETH "KEN" WM. MARTINSON February 17, 1937 - March 13, 2000 Suddenly after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and heart disease, Ken left us to be at peace. Ken was predeceased by his wife Carole of 15 years in October, 1998, and by his parents, Bill and Amelia. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Diana, Kerry (Vicky), Dawn (Frank), Dolores and Dan Causton of Abbotsford, BC; their mother Doris (Jane) and his grandchildren, Tyler, Keith, Kristin, Matthew, Joseph and Jenna. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Phyllis Campbell; sister Gloria Rebeck (Wes), brother Les (Edie), sister Gayle Dutchyshen; friend Claire and numerous nieces, nephews and friends at Club Regent, where Ken was known affectionately as "Casino Ken" and Robins (Brandon and Osborne). Ken was born in Winnipeg with his proud roots in East Kildonan. He was affectionately known to many as "Marty" and to select few "Smarty". His keen sense of humour and love of music were always prevalent and he was always willing to share the joke of the day with many friends. While raising his family, they primarily resided in the Riverview area. One of Kens passions was driving which also crossed into his livelihood, driving for both Alpine and Pony Express and his own messenger company with his first wife Doris. Ken also spent time with CNCP Telecommunications before joining Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation (Salvage). After 20 plus years with M.P.I.C., Ken was forced to take early retirement in 1993 due to his failing health. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the St. Boniface Hospital Dialysis Unit, 5A and the Emergency Unit. Special thanks also to Winnipeg Fire Department, E.M.S., and to Laura for being there. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Kens memory to the St. Boniface Dialysis Unit, 409 Tache, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. In keeping Kens wishes, friends are invited to join the family for a memorial reception from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (across from the Royal Canadian Mint) with a tribute service commencing at 3:00 p.m. A private interment will take place in the familys property at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. The honorary pallbearers will be Tyler and Keith Martinson, Rick and Dean Rebeck, Wayne and Gary Wuirch, Lenny Graceffo and Brian Jefkins.
