PHYLLIS MURPHY On Monday, March 13, 2000, Mrs. Phyllis Murphy of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer with her loving family by her side. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Donald of 45 years; son Curt and wife Mary, granddaughters, Katie and Shannon and their mother Kathy; son Bradley and his partner Terry, grandsons Roby and Jason and granddaughter Mandy and their mother Tammy; daughter Darby and husband Don and grandson Blaine. Phyllis is survived by sisters Idabelle (John), Linda (Don) brother Brian and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father Yetta and Walter Tait and her sister Doris Bednarski. Born in Winnipeg, August 7, 1936, Phyllis resided in Chatfield, Manitoba prior to moving to Winnipeg in 1942. On completing school she was employed by Christie Biscuits where she met Don and then were married in 1955. Living in the Weston area Phyllis and Don raised their three children. On the closing of Christie Biscuits, Phyllis worked at Boeing Aircraft for 16 years before retiring in 1995. Phyllis enjoyed her many summers with her family at the family cottage in Matlock. Funeral service will take place Thursday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Oncology Department, and doctors and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Department for their care of Phyllis and also for their ongoing support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 9Z9, or Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
