LEONARD FRENCH Suddenly, at his home, Leonard French died on March 14, 2000. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his two sons, Len and Norman; daughters-in-law, Susan and Sarah; his grandchildren, Steven, Adria, Terry, Andrew and Samantha; his brother Ken and sister Mary. Len was born in Winnipeg on April 10, 1928. The youngest of four, he grew up in East Kildonan. He was a gifted hockey player and tended goal for the Excellciors and the Brandon Wheat Kings. He and Dorothy began their very happy married life together in 1951. He began work as a clerk in an insurance office. This proved to be the start of a 50 year career in the insurance industry. He became intern, acclaims examiner, adjuster and manager. In 1964 he became an independent adjuster and a partner in local adjusting firm. In 1977 he formed his own company, Leonard French & Co. Ltd. He held many executive posts in the insurance industry and received many awards recognizing his contribution. He always managed to dedicate time to help young people in the industry to further their careers. He "retired" in October of last year although still acted as a consultant on a part time basis. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. We loved him and will miss him so very much. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception to celebrate Lens life on Friday, March 17 at 12:00 noon at the Winnipeg Squash Racquet Club, 275 Stradbrook. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire donations may be made to Big Sisters and Brothers of Winnipeg or a charity of your choice.
