ROSE BARCHUK Peacefully at the Selkirk & District General Hospital, Rose Barchuk, aged 92 years, of East Selkirk, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2000. Rose is survived by three daughters, Anne (Jake) Loewen, Mary Barchuk and Eileen Andrayko; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Anna Chanas; husband Anthony; son Martin; daughter Florence Shead; brother Steve and sister Catherine Rokosh. Rose was born in East Selkirk in 1907 and lived there all her life. She was a gentle, caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who especially cherished family get-togethers. The church was an important part of her life and she was very proud to be choir leader for many years. Viewing will take place on Friday, March 17 from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in East Selkirk with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery, East Selkirk. Her pallbearers will be Carl Chanas, Garth and Guy Shead, Bill Donald, Joe Lamboo and Dave Smith. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lindenschmidt for his excellent care over the years. Also thanks to Selkirk Home Care and the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital.
