Born at home on August 16, 1931, to Nellie and Fred (predeceased) in RM of Springfield, Man. Bill was the eldest of nine children, Helen (Matwychuk), Adolph, Mary (Hunter), Elsie (Linklater), Evelyn (Ruta), Verna (Kozi), Jean (Kolisnyk), and Steve. Bill was educated at Sunnyside School, Oakbank High School, and attended a variety of post-graduate courses. Bill moved to Port Arthur, Ont. in 1950 where he was employed at the Port Arthur Shipyards, then at the City of Port Arthur as a transit driver and then he spent the majority of his working career as a telephone technician for the City of Thunder Bay, until his retirement. Miss Me But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone, Its part of the Masters Plan A step on the road to home So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me...but let me go. GRANDPA The worn old slippers sit beside the lonesome armchair The papers be upon the stand where he last put them there. The silence tells the story more than words can say His voice no longer fills the air for Grandpas gone away Somewhere beyond that shining star out in the realm of space Our Grandpa walks and sings a song A smile upon his face. And in our memory he will dwell until our final day, We miss him, and its lonesome Since Grandpa went away. He will be sadly missed by his wife Patricia of 43 years; daughters, Lynn and Sherry (Ron Oger) and his three grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle and Christina, whom he adored. As a husband and father, teacher and friend, there was no one better. Bills life interests included his family, home, church and gardening, where he shared many enjoyable hours. People who knew Bill knew that he was peaceful in nature, he truly never spoke an unkind word or withheld any kindness. His caring and generosity was appreciated by many and he will be sadly missed. Prayers to be held at Cropo Funeral Home at 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, on Friday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, Cooks Creek, Man., on Saturday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Taras Kowch officiating, and interment to follow. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
