Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH PAULINE BIEDLER (nee KURBIS) On March 15, Mom passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Roy Biedler, parents Pauline and Albert Kurbis, brothers August, Paul, Henry, Fred, Wilfred and sisters Hertha Koenig and Elsie Pokrant. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters, Rosalene Saleski (Gerry) and Gracie Biedler; her sisters Annie Trapp, Gustie Struss (Ed) brothers-in-law Manuel Biedler (Shirley), Norbert Arnhold of Beausejour, Roy Pokrant of Rosenfeld and sisters-in-law Edith Kurbis of Winnipeg, Lena Kurbis of Selkirk and good friend Olga Blazeiko. Elizabeth Pauline Kurbis was born December 14, 1916 in Greenwald, Man., the seventh of ten children. On May 9, 1943, she married Roy Biedler. They farmed in the Greenwald area until 1950 when they moved to Lac du Bonnet. Liz was always a hard working, energetic person. During the early years of her marriage, she worked as a cook in bush camps, construction sites and mines. For many years she worked at Caseys Inn and later the Lakeview Hotel in addition to keeping a big garden and taking care of her family. Her retirement in 1980 gave her more time to pursue the things she loved, gardening, crocheting, knitting and making gifts for her many friends. She attended church regularly and for a number of years sang alto in the church choir in Greenwald and Lac du Bonnet. For many years she played in the Pioneer Club kitchen band. She loved playing bingo and rummy with friends and family. She had a great sense of humour. Her bingo buddies appreciated her gift for telling jokes, as did her audience when she served as auctioneer at the annual Anglican Church bazaar. Summer saw her puttering in her beautiful flowerbeds. Scouring garage sales for treasures and bargains was a Saturday morning must. Liz was a very sociable, ever cheerful, generous friend to everyone. In a kind-hearted way, she shared her joy of life and never held a grudge. We will cherish our precious memories of her. God saw you getting tired And the cure was not to be, So He wrapped you in his loving arms And whispered, "Come with me." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Cross, Lac du Bonnet, Man., ROE 1AO or the Pioneer Club, Lac du Bonnet, Man., ROE 1AO. Lizs family is very grateful to the wonderful care she received from Dr. Kong, Dr. Harris, the Oncology Department and the nursing staff at the Concordia Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, Lac du Bonnet, Reverend Kolleen Karlowsky officiating. Interment at the Riverland Cemetery.
