JOHN LEDUC After a lengthy illness John Leduc passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre with his family by his side. John is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Henriette (nee Heiget). His loving daughters Diane, Arlene and husband Bob Allinson and Lucie and husband Neil McNeven, also the "Boys" whom he loved so very much his grandsons, Stephen, Blair, Kyle and Aidan. John was born on May 8, 1924 in Assiniboia, Sask., lived on a farm in St. Claude until 1958, then in town for ten years operating a farm implement dealership. Moved to Brandon in 1968 where he started to work for Indian Affairs and was later transferred to Winnipeg in 1975. He retired in 1989 and wrote a family history book which was published in 1998. A masterpiece which he was very proud of. John loved fishing and hunting and every morning did his crossword puzzle. He was an avid reader and followed all political reviews on television. He was of the opinion that intellectual stimulation should always be a priority in ones life. His strong suit was situational humour and used it as a diversion as the hospital staff soon were aware. John left to mourn him, besides his immediate family are his sister Jeanne of Assiniboia, Sask.; Robert of McCard, Sask. and many nephews and nieces. A special mention to Evelyn Chappellag, Odette Revard and Eveline Gaudreau who will miss him. He had many friends who will also miss him, especially Joe Durupt who kept who kept visiting him till the last days. John was predeceased by his sons, Joseph in 1965 and Paul in 1996. His parents, Raymond in 1949 and mother Lucie in 1960 and his brothers, Charles 1946, Henri 1978 and Julien 1998. The family wishes to thank all the good people who helped with his care in the last two years. Homecare workers namely VON Suzette Sonnie, Ernie whom he enjoyed chatting with and Raphael who could never do enough for him. There are many thank yous to the staff at the Health Sciences Centre and Riverview Health Centre, people who went beyond the call of duty to make sure John was comfortable. Prayers will be said on Monday, March 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peters Roman Catholic Church at 748 Keewatin St. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends to follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Pallbearers will be Andre Chappellag, Gerry Gaudreau, Denis Leduc, Richard Leduc, Wilfred Leduc and Raymond Rivard. Donations in Johns memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 Main Street 338-7111
