Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY HLATKEY (nee MAZUR) Suddenly, but peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2000 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital, Mary passed away at the age of 77 years. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in 1978; her parents, Casmir and Agnes Mazur; her brothers, Joe and Bill Mazur and her sister Victoria in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing her friend and loving companion, Joe Zabriski; her daughter Sharon (Burnie) Hoplock; son Jerry (Marion) grandchildren, Kim (Darrell), Kristin (Everett), Nicole, Corey (Laura) and great-granddaughter Avery Platt. She also leaves her seven sisters, Minnie Krawchuk, Bernice (Rudy) Kulbaba, Ann Kubish, Janice (Barry) Hartfield, Pat Hancharek, Ada (Donald) Post and Jean Kulbaba as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was born in the R. M. of Brokenhead on December 3, 1922. She met and married Nicholas in 1944. They farmed in the Stead area until 1970, when she moved to Selkirk where she resided until her death. Mary was a very kind and active person, she loved her flowers and gardening and was famous for her chicken noodle soup she made for her grandchildren which they loved so much. A prayer service will be held on Monday, March 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Selkirk, with Fr. Harry Oliynek officiating. Interment to follow int he Holy Family Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be Corey Platt, Gordon Kubish, Brian Krawchuk, Darrell Hancharek, Gary Hlatky and Bernard Hartfield. If friends so desire, donations can be made in memory of Mary to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
