ROSS Mildred Ross, widow of John Ross, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2000 at the Riverview Health Centre, the day after her 95th birthday. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Helen (Clay) Hayes of Calgary and son Allan (Marilyn) Ross; grandchildren, Heather (Wilfred) Caisley, Dean (Jane) Ross and great-grandchildren, Leanne and Ross Caisley and Paul, Megan and Colin Ross, all of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by her brothers, Allen (Muriel) Hancock of Ridgedale, Saskatchewan and Kenneth (Mary) Hancock of Kelowna, B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 1967, and by brothers Clifford, Maurice, Gilbert and Earle Hancock. Mildred was born in Arden, Manitoba on January 27, 1905. She moved to Winnipeg and married John in 1932. For over 40 years she was an active member of Atlantic Garden City United Church and later attended John Black Memorial United Church. For many years Mildred did volunteer work with the Red Cross and the Tache Hospital where she sewed, knitted and did many different crafts. She was also active in the Gable Arms Social Club when she resided there. Mildred raised her family with love and devotion. Her kind spirit and quiet strength were admired by those who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff of CD2 at the Riverview Health Centre for the kind and considerate care they gave to our mother. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Riverview Health Centre, 1 Morley Ave. on Tuesday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m. with Rose Ferries officiating.
