Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES JAMES CANNONS Peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2000 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, Brandon, Charlie Cannons, aged 83 years, beloved brother and uncle, was called to be with God. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and James Cannons; three brothers, Leonard, Horace and Sidney and by brother-in-law George Porter. Charlie was born November 29, 1916 in Winnipeg, Man. In 1920 the family moved to Cypress River where Charlie grew up and attended school. In June 1940 Charlie joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, which took him overseas in the Second World War. Upon returning in 1945, Charlie gained employment with Canadian Pacific Express in Winnipeg. Charlie retired at age 60 years and enjoyed many years of curling and hunting. In 1990, Charlie moved back to Cypress River to be near his sisters. He spent some time in Glenboro Personal Care Home and later in Rideau Park Personal Care Home. Left to mourn his passing are sisters, Victoria (Martin) Moody, Vera (Archie) Defoort, Berniece (Dave) Jones and Irene Porter and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Willmor Chapel, 415 Broadway St., Glenboro, Man., on Wednesday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alan Armstrong officiating. Interment to follow in the Glencoe Cemetery, Cypress River. Friends that wish, memoriams may be made in Charlies memory to a charity of ones choice.
