MARTIN DOUGLAS JENSEN Peacefully, surrounded with his family by his side, on Friday, March 17, 2000, at the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall, Man., Martin Douglas Jensen, of Argyle, Man., passed away at the age of 84 years. Besides his wife Edith of 56 years less a day, he is survived by three sons and one daughter, Bryan (Heather), their children, Tara (Dave) McConnell, their son Bradley, Derek of Winnipeg, Dennis (Linda), their children, Ashley, Krystal, Erika of Argyle, Robert of Argyle, Karen of Stonewall. Also he will be mourned by his sister Dora (Don) Cassels of Stonewall and brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nephews and Jennifer Normand. He was predeceased by his mother, father, brother Robert, sister Marion (Fred) Seaman and his grandson Dennis Jensen Jr. Martin was born September 20, 1915. He came from a large family and learned at a young age what hard work and responsibility was to help out his family. Martin enlisted with the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and was honourably discharged in 1946. He served his country and wore his uniform with great pride. After his discharge, he helped his father with the family farm and took it over in 1954. On March 18, 1944, Martin married Edith McMahon, of Teulon. Marty worked so hard for his family, he was always giving and expected nothing in return. He was a very proud and caring man. Martin was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #222 and the Argyle Curling Club. At Martys request cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 391 Main St., Stonewall. Rev. Marc Whitehead will officiate. There will be Legion Rites at the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the memory of Martin to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3B 2H8, or to the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Stonewall, R0C 2Z0. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, all healthcare givers, with special thanks to Dr. Arnott, for all the excellent care given to Dad during his stay.
