WALFRIED (WALLY) DYCK On March 18, 2000 Wally Dyck went to be with his Lord. He had succumbed to a weak heart and died peacefully. Wally was at peace with God and those around him and was uplifting to everyone he came in contact with, even to the end. He was born in 1924, in the Crimea, Soviet Union. Fleeing from Communism, he came to Canada with his parents and sister Olga in 1930. After moving to Winnipeg and growing up in North Kildonan, he met Aganetha Steingart and was married in 1949 and raised their family in North Kildonan. They shared fifty happy years together. In 1946 he and his father Issac founded Hawthorne Woodworks. He worked in the business diligently until health concerns forced his retirement in 1995. He took great pride in his work of first manufacturing wooden ladders and later kitchen cabinets. His courage and cheerfulness in life and in business, were always founded on his faith in God. In his free time he enjoyed trips to his cottage at Rice Lake and winter holidays in Mazatlan, Mexico. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Aganetha; his three children, Melinda (Robert) Heidebrecht, Ron (Irene) and Victor and seven grandchildren, Steven, Jennifer and Kathleen (Heidebrecht), Stephanie, Karen, Andrea and Christopher. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Ave. with interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Viewing Thursday, March 23 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. and at the church prior to the service. If friends desire, donations may be made in Wallys memory to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg R3T 5K9. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331
