ROBERT ARNTHOR SIGURDSON It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden accidental death on March 17, 2000 of Robert Arnthor Sigurdson, beloved husband and best friend of Roberta Joan Anderson and loving father of two year old Karen Magnea. Robert will be greatly missed by his parents Don and Shirley Sigurdson of Arborg, sisters Heather (Brian) Fridfinnson of Arborg and Donna (Allan) Wishnowski of Winnipeg, nephew and niece Joel and Laura Fridfinnson and Brent Wishnowski. Also surviving are uncle and aunt Randy and Heather Sigurdson, cousins Ryan and Lana Sigurdson of Arborg, uncle and aunt Robert and Inez Langry of Winnipeg and aunt Ruth Ullyot and family of Carman. He is also survived by parents-in-law Ray and Joan Anderson of Selkirk, sisters-in-law Kristin Anderson (Keith Waugh) of Winnipeg, Cathy Anderson and friend Wayne Harder of Winnipeg, Carolyn Anderson of Calgary, niece and nephew Anne and Colin Waugh and good friend Jim McDowall. Robert was predeceased by grandparents Arnthor and Magnea Sigurdson of Arborg and Nelson and Ida Langtry of Carman. Rob was born on September 2, 1967 in Arborg, where he spent a happy childhood. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. Rob worked at various jobs until he entered Hallcrest Business College, where he graduated with honours and was class valedictorian. Joining Hallcrests staff as a teacher in 1999, Rob discovered his natural gift for teaching. He was much respected and well-liked by both staff and students. Rob and Roberta met at the University of Manitoba in 1986, fell in love in 1990, and were married on October 15, 1994. Rob and his family recently moved into their dream home in East Selkirk and were eagerly awaiting the birth of their second child in April. Rob was a gentle and caring man with a great sense of humour. He liked to "travel light" in life, valuing freedom and simplicity. Rob enjoyed his family, his music and playing his guitar. He loved being outdoors, spending many hours walking with Roberta, Karen and their dog Alex. The family are grateful for the many good friends and memories Robert had made throughout his life. The funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located one kilometer south of Selkirk on Hwy. No. 9. Rev. Christine Bridgett of Little Britain United Church will officiate. Cremation will follow with a family service at a later date.
