MARION KELLER (CALDWELL) (nee SMITH) After a lengthy battle with cancer, I have left for the peace my faith promises me awaits, and join the friends and family who have gone before me, including my first husband Reginald and my second husband Kenneth and my son Brian. I am survived by four of my older brothers, Ed, John, Fred and Seldon Peter; my five children, Ralph, Josephine (Gordon), Sharon (Rod), Neil, Susan (Dennis) my grandchildren, Julie (Richard), Kerri (Gino), Robert (Arlene), Melanie (Yves), Nicole, Alison, Ashley, Glen, and Kenneth and my great-grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Tabitha, Landon, Jacob, Andrea, and Ben; my best friend Harry Searcy and his family, Linda, Donald and Jeffery and their families, and by the mothers of my grandchildren,Donna and Dianne. I was born in Canning, NS on September 6, 1921, the youngest, with eight brothers and one sister. I formed strong friendships growing up in the Maritimes but left to begin a life with Reg where we settled in Winnipeg. I learned to adapt to the flatlands of the prairie as we began our family of three boys. Sadly Reg passed away at an early age. My matchmaking neighbours introduced me to a young, single father on the block. Ken and I were married after the death of my son Brian. Susan was born 11 years later followed closely by our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I worked at Grey Street United Church for what seems like forever. My family and I were an active part of the church and it seemed like our second home, next to the cabin we had at Pointe du Bois. After Kens retirement we travelled and had the opportunity to find Kens long lost family and enjoy North America. After Kens death my family and friends were very supportive and Kens army buddy, Harry and I developed a strong friendship. I am thankful for his care and companionship and the warm acceptance of his family. While I worked and had many hobbies, my family, and friends have been my life. I do not wish to name anyone for fear of leaving someone out. But I am sure that each of you know how precious my memories of you are and I hope you will hold me close to your hearts. From the ministers and church members Ive worked with through the years, to the friends of my children whove ran in and out the doors of my home and cabin and the neighbours whove shared their teapot with me, you will all be with me as I travel on. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, March 23 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Service celebrating Marions life will be held on Friday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Grey Street United Church, N.E. Grey Street and Sandhurst Ave. Rev. G. Fulford officiating. My family and I would like to thank Sandra, Rita and Kelly for their faithful duty; as well as the staff at Riverview, Health Sciences and Rehab Centre for your care through my illness. If you feel it necessary to acknowledge my passing, please do not send my family flowers, they already know how much you care, but rather, please make a donation to the ministry of Grey Street United Church or the church of your choice in my name, in order that Gods work may continue, and someday we will all live in peace.
