CORAL NAIDA WYNNE (nee ROGERS) March 29, 1926 - March 19, 2000 After a short illness at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital. Much loved mother of Kevin (Shelley Breslaw-Wynne) and Laurel (Martin Buckland) beloved sister of Betty Hastings (Elgin) and Neil Rogers (Marie) loving grandmother to Nathan, Nicholas, Katherine and Sophie. Coral was born in Carnarvon, Ont. She spent 35 years in the teaching profession until her retirement. Coral was an outspoken proponent of phonics instruction for children and lobbied her school administration on television and in print during the mid to late 1960s. Coral inspired a generation of teachers with her uncompromising standards and generous heart. Predeceased by her husband Harold in June 1999, the couple were married 45 years. Coral enjoyed singing, reading and golf at various points in her life and attended Knox Presbyterian Church (Toronto) and Hilltop Chapel (Etobicoke). In lieu of flowers, donations to The Scott Mission, 520 Spadina Ave., Toronto, Ont. M5S 2H1, would be gratefully appreciated. Friends and family attended a memorial service Tuesday, March 21 at Parkview Village, Stouffville, Ont., where Coral had lived happily for the last few years.
