ANNE FERENS It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Anne Ferens, on Thursday, March 23, 2000 at the St. Boniface Hospital. She will be forever missed by her daughters, Sharon (Roy) Richmond and Darlene (Bill) Wilkie, and her very special granddaughter Kelly-Anne Richmond (Richard Martin). Her sisters Elsie, Teenie, Margaret and her brother John (Mary) will also miss her. Her memory will be cherished by many beloved sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear friends and neighbours. Her husband, Stephen, predeceased her in 1987. Anne was born on January 24, 1920 and just celebrated her 80th birthday with friends and family. Her life was devoted to caring for others with her family being her top priority. She was well known for her helpful and generous nature. She could always be counted on to share and lend a helping hand. She was always there for her kids. She was an active community and church volunteer. Her involvements over the years included Meals on Wheels, Blood Donor Clinics, the Agricultural Society, rink canteen, nursing home and hospital volunteer and her beloved Ukrainian Catholic Womens League and church committees. Baking, cooking, gardening and entertaining family and friends were special joys in her life. Mom could be counted on to stock all the family freezers with each of our favourites. She was always prepared to feed an army and dearly loved to have company for supper. Gardening was her special time. She took great pride in her weed free garden, the vegetables grown, and the pickles produced. Her gladioli graced all of our homes when they were in bloom. She loved the coffee visits with her friends and neighbours as well as the times spent with her sisters and brother. Mom was a fiercely independent spirit. She lived life to the fullest. She expected each of us to be good people, to work hard, and to appreciate each other for that is the source of true happiness. Her faith was her grounding and guiding light and gave her great strength and comfort. Our loss is indescribable and she will be in our hearts forever. Prayers will be said on Monday March 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Sholdak officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
