JOHN DESMARAIS On Friday, March 24, 2000 at Winnipeg in his 85th year, John Desmarais, beloved husband of Elvira Desmarais and dear father of June, Joe and wife Laila, Dave and wife Cathy, Toby and wife Mary Lynn and loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren. Besides his wife, children and grandchildren, John leaves to mourn and cherish his memory, his surviving sister Terese and brother Toni. He was predeceased by his brothers, Norman, Amie and Ernie and sisters, Annie from England and Rita from Saskatchewan, and their spouses and one grandchild Debbie Desmarais and many friends. John worked for the City of Winnipeg for 35 years. He was an active and lifetime member of the #9 Legion. His greatest joy was being with family and friends, playing crib and darts, fishing and golfing. He achieved many trophies for these achievements including a "Hole in One" in golf. He was a very hard-working man and excelled in building and fixing projects around the house and in his job. During his last years Johns greatest joy was his grandchildren and his ability to be in his own home and be independent. What I would give if I could say "Hi Papa!" in the same old way. To hear your voice, to see your smile, To sit and talk with you awhile. God saw you getting tired, so He closed His arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me." Gods garden must be beautiful For he only takes the best. It only takes a little space To write how much we miss you. But it will take the rest of our lives To forget the day we lost you. We love you PAPA JOHN! REST IN PEACE. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Floral tributes are gratefully declined. If relatives and friends so desire, any donations may be made to his memory to the Manitoba Chapter of The Arthritis Society. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
