ANNA CHRISTINA HAGGLUND 1901 - 2000 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and G.G., Anna Hagglund on March 23, 2000 at Golden West Centennial Lodge at age 98 years. Mom was born on August 16, 1901 in Jamtland, Sweden. She came to Canada in 1906 with her family and settled in the Inwood district. On December 26, 1925 she married Hjalmar Hagglund. In the early years of their marriage, they lived in Saskatchewan where their three children were born. In 1936, they moved to Clanwilliam, Manitoba where they lived until retirement in 1963. At this time, they moved to Winnipeg where Mom has since resided. After Dads death, Mom moved to Kiwanis Courts and for the past five years she has lived at Golden West. Mom was very involved in the Clanwilliam community, being active in the church as a Sunday School teacher and member of the Womens Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Womens Institute and was a 4H leader for many years. Mom was such a loving and caring person who was always there for her family. She especially enjoyed the large family gatherings for special occasions. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Hjalmar in 1973; her son Howard in 1998, her parents and all her sisters and brothers. Left to cherish her memory, are her daughters, Jean Brooks (Bill), Shirley MacKay (Neil) and daughter-in-law Margaret Hagglund; her grandchildren, Barbara Hagglund (Al), Gerry Hagglund (Michelle), Brian Hagglund (Jana), David Brooks, Gwen Birse (Peter), Donna Polychuk (Marty), Gord MacKay (Clare) and Sandra Rauhaus (Jason). Her great-grandchildren, who loved their G.G. were her pride and joy, Scott and Brooke Birse, Kyle and Kevin Polychuk, Daniel Hagglund and Krista Hagglund. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their loving care and compassion given to Mom over the past five years. A celebration of Moms life will be held on Monday, March 27, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, Winnipeg, Man. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
