Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD FRANCIS LEE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Francis Lee, on Friday, March 24, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his wife of almost 50 years, Irene Lee (nee Sjovold) his daughter Donna Dorward; his son Gary Lee (Joan) his grandchildren, Darren and Dana Dorward and Heather (Matt) and Tammy Lee. He is also survived by his brothers, Dudley (Ina) and Bud (Anne) and his sister Esme Sudeyko (Glen). His many nieces, nephews and friends also mourn his death. He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Eileen Lee and by his grandson Daniel Lee Dorward. Lloyd was born in Marchwell, Sask., on September 25, 1929. He grew up in the Marchwell/Basswood area, and on July 1, 1950 he married the love of his life, Irene Sjovold. Lloyd lived most of his life in Winnipeg, but in 1987 he and Irene moved to "Lees"-ur-land" at Twin Lakes Beach where they resided until recently. Since retirement from Petro Canada in September 1989, Lloyd and Irene have been fortunate to spend their winters in Arizona. Lloyd was an active participant in planning and running shuffleboard tournaments in the trailer parks where they resided. Lloyd was known for his infectious sense of humour, his repertoire of jokes and his eternal optimism. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He loved the many holidays he spent camping and travelling with his family. A special memory was the trip to California sponsored by the Rainbow Society. Together Lloyd and Irene explored much of Canada and the U.S. One of his most treasured events was his annual shopping trip with his daughter, an event that was never missed in over 30 years. He enjoyed many hours playing his violin or harmonica with his friends. Especially enjoyable were the music sessions with his "Best Bud" George Fraser. Lloyd was an active member of the community. He was a cub leader in the Elmwood area and was active in the Elmwood Presbyterian Church. After moving to St. James in 1964, Lloyd and Irene joined Messiah Lutheran Church as charter members. Lloyd was active on the church council for many years. Services for Lloyd will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Rd. as follows: prayer service and viewing at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27 with Pastor David Knudson officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Bryan and Terry Lee, Alvin and Murray Karton and his close friends, George Fraser and Vern Voechting. Special thanks to family and friends for their prayers and many acts of kindness. We are grateful for the terrific care Lloyd received from Drs. P. Harris, J. Mulder and L. Barber, the staff of VON Winnipeg Branch and the Palliative Care Ward at Grace General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyds memory may be made to VON Winnipeg Branch, 301 - 831 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Man., R3G 0N6. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
