RONALD PHILEMOND VAN ACHTE On March 19, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ron passed away peacefully at his home in Brandon, MB with his family at his side. Ron was born December 31, 1942 in Winnipeg, MB where he was raised and educated. In 1959, he was employed with Olivetti Canada Ltd. until 1978, when he moved to Brandon forming the partnership of McClure-Van Achte Ltd. In 1995, he sold his shares in the business, and afterwards became employed with the Brandon School Division as Purchasing Officer. Ron was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since joining in 1974, and was a 4th Degree Knight serving as an honour guard at many functions. He also was a member of the United Commercial Travellers. He had served on many boards and committees. As his family was growing up, he spent many years camping and fishing in the Whiteshell area. He also coached Little League Baseball and later enjoyed golfing and travelling. His best achievement was the time he spent with his family. Ron will be sadly missed and remembered by his loving wife Lois; daughter Barb of Chilliwack, BC; son Randy and daughter-in-law Angie of Grande Prairie, AB; and granddaughter Sarah - his special little angel. He will also be missed by brothers, John (Joyce) Van Achte, Remie (Marilyn) Van Achte, Gerald Van Achte, Leonard (Nancy) Van Achte, Don Van Ache and sisters, Val (Camile) Arsenault, Alida (Bill) Eggleton and Marie (Bill) Robert, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; goddaughter Meagan Van Achte, and special family member Phyllis Pyke.
